Nifty Gifties and Angrypants

21 Dec

Gooood evening, blogland. To start, I have a confession to make: I didn’t run until Saturday. I took almost a whole week off. Now, in my defense, my old internship was having their holiday party on Friday night and they gave me a glass of scotch. There was no way I’d be running. But I went to the gym on Saturday morning and, despite being on the treadmill, was beaming for the first mile. It was great to move again. I intended on doing 5.5 miles, but as time went on my body was so not into it. So I did 2.5, half an hour of strength, and another mile. I’m doing the 5.5 tomorrow night in preparation for feasting the rest of the week.

While I was doing my first stint on the treadmills, there was a very angry fellow next to me. He was running at a good pace, but was making really loud, obnoxious noises as he ran. He was also wearing big headphones, so I’m not sure if he knew how loud he was being. It was sort of gross. Then he accidentally hit the giant red button that stops the machine. Rather than use logic and pressing the green button to start it up again, he decides that the proper reaction is to start swearing at the machine and keep mashing buttons until all his data has cleared. He starts his run over again. Not even 5 minutes later he does the same thing; hits the red button. Cue more swearing and a storm-off Rachel Berry would have admired. I was relieved when he moved on to another treadmill in the row ahead of mine, but disgusted to realize that he didn’t wipe his midlife crisis sweat off the equipment. Idiots make me sad.

Anyway, whether or not it was noticed, I disappeared for a few days. I was kept within the walls of my kitchen all weekend making cookies. Don’t believe me? Just wait until I go all cookie photo crazy up in here. I made upwards of 200 cookies, then packaged them all into little gift bags. Then tested a stuffing recipe. Then wrapped gifts. Ho ho ho. Oh, and I chopped off most of my hair. Still getting used to it, but I think I love it.

Speaking of gifts, check out this totally awesome shirt Velma sent to me! I love love love it, it’s so soft and warm. THANK YOU! :D And J (forgive me, I wrote the wrong name earlier… shouldn’t blog when I’m tired), thanks for organizing such an awesome exchange :)

Okay see you next time when I give you diabetes via pictures of cookies on the internet.

I know the type you speak of. There is a difference between hardcore and rude.

I LOVE the hair! So edgy! And omg, I’ve eaten he equivalent of my weight cookies and cookie dough this weekend. But when you’re snowed in, what else CAN you do? ;)

Hardcore I can totally deal with. Hell, I can even deal with grossly sweaty. It happens. Yeah, this guy was flat-out rude and obnoxious.

      And thankya, lady! :)

I get weireded out by super heavy breathing and those that like pound their feet while the run…I probably would have laughed at that guy…at which point he would have knocked me over!

I really wanted to tell him to clean up his gross sweat, but I was totally afraid he might ‘roid out and punch me, haha. I traded WTF looks with the woman that was on the other treadmill next to him, though ;)
